Ian Hill was born in Vancouver British Columbia and raised in Vacaville California. He now works and lives in San Francisco with his girlfriend "Elysia" and cat "Oscar."
Hill works from a mixture of imagination, life, digital imaging, and photo reference. His images are a place where the future, the past, and things that aren't real collide; An art milkshake of old America, pop-culture, and psychedelics. With a degree in illustration and an obsession for the obscure, he strives for an ambiguous narrative quality that the viewer can experience psychologically. His inspiration comes from vintage photo's, nature, toys, and the people around him.He is also inspired by other artists such as Hieronymus Bosch, the infamous Caravaggio, Norman Rockwell and contemporaries like Mike Davis and Eric White.
Hill has exhibited in San Francisco, Manilla, and New York as well as received noted recognition and awards such as the "Direct Art Award" from the Limner Gallery.
